3 men force woman to drink alcohol, rape her in Dhaka

Three males forced a woman to drink alcohol, and then sexually assaulted the woman in a home in Dhaka's Rampura neighborhood the night before.

The woman of 25 years mother of three was admitted by ambulance to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as she was sick in the morning.

The woman was summoned to a residence in the East Rampura area last evening by a person she knew known as Sharif the victim's brother who was alleged.

Sharif and his two accomplices -Sharif and his two associates - Ibrahim and Mainuddin were able to force her to drink alcohol and then raped her in the night before the rape, he claimed, adding that another woman assisted in the rape.

The victim's brother claimed that his sister and Sharif shared a good relationship after her husband divorced her two months ago, and they moved into Barishal after a move from Dhaka. Sharif offered her a wedding and had raped her in the past too according to the report, which cited the victim.

In the evening, Sharif called the woman to her home in Rampura in which he and two of his accomplices raped her. The accused rapists allowed her to go the next morning.

The family members of her were the ones to take her to the hospital when she was sick and informed them about the sexual assault.

Rafiqul Islam, the officer-in-charge at Rampura Police Station said they received a report that several individuals gang-raped a woman, after the woman was forced to drink alcohol.

"Her family members took her to hospital for treatment. We will record a case after her treatment," said the doctor.

"We are investigating the complaints," the official said He added that several teams are working to find the suspected rapists.
